The story so far…
Two years ago Richard Johnson sat alone in the weathered cabin of a train which had just crossed the border from Poland to the Czech Republic. The door slid open and a stunning blond girl entered and sat opposite him. She spoke no English, and he spoke no Czech, although he had committed to memory a compliment about a girl’s eyes.
Richard created lingopal for exactly this situation - so that you can break the ice with foreigners, in a fun and engaging way. Moving beyond “beautiful eyes”, we’ve compiled phrases that work in 22 languages, and with lingopal you can have them on your phone, ready for action whenever you have the need.
It’s been two years in the making – afterall these phrases had to be tested – and we’ve assembled a team boasting executive experience at Kazaa, TradeMe and Fairfax.
Exciting times are ahead, so for now enjoy lingopal, and check back as we keep updating and expanding your world of possibilities.
And the compliment given to the Czech girl? “She smiled. Everyone loves a compliment!” says Richard.
